Tax Calendar FAQ

Here are a few commonly asked questions we’ve had about the Soulence Tax Deadlines calendar.

How do I receive the reminders?

When you sync with your Google calendar, you will need to set up your own notification reminders.  We recommend you set them up to be sent via email every 4 weeks, 2 weeks, and 2 days before each tax deadline.

To set up your own notifications:

  1. Login to your Google Calendar.
  2. On the left side of the screen, you will see a list of your sub calendars.  Click on the downward facing arrow on the “Soulence Tax Deadlines” calendar.
  3. This will bring up a menu box.  Click on “Notifications.”
  4. On the notifications page, the first section is called “Event reminders.” Click on "Add a reminder" and use the options to create notifications that will best suit your needs.  You can add as many as you want. These notifications will become the default for all the deadlines on the Soulence Tax Deadlines calendar (So you only need to do it once) unless you otherwise specify on each individual deadline (not recommended).
  5. When you are done, click “Save,” and you will start receiving your notifications!

If you sync with iCal, you will need to set up your own reminders or Alarms through their system.

Do I need a Google Account to receive the email reminders?

Yes. This means you need to create a Google Calendar account, which you can do through a current Gmail account or you can create just a Google Calendar account with your current business email.

You can also sync the Soulence Tax Deadlines calendar with your iCal, but you still need need to create a Google Calendar.

To set up a Google Calendar account go to calendar.google.com.

While following the instructions on Soulence.com, I set up my Google Gmail account, but it didn’t prompt me to sync the Soulence Tax Deadlines calendar to my Google Calendar.

There are two possible problems that need to be resolved.  First, the request to sync the calendars was probably lost in the process of setting up your Google account.

To fix this:

  1. Login to your Gmail account.
  2. In another window or tab go back to http://soulence.com/tax-calendar/ and follow the instructions under “To Sync with Google Calendars.”
  3. You should now be synced with the Soulence Tax Deadlines calendar.

If the instructions still don’t work, the second possible problem is that you need to set up your Google Calendar.

Do this by:

  1. Signing in to your Google Account.
  2. In the top left corner you will see a link that says “Calendar.” Click on this link and follow the instructions for setting up your calendar.
  3. Then, go to http://soulence.com/tax-calendar/ and follow the instructions under “To Sync with Google Calendars.”
  4. You should now be synced with the Soulence Tax Deadlines calendar.

What if I don’t want to check an extra email?  Can I forward the email reminders to my business or other email?

Yes!  After you sync with our calendar and set up your own notifications, you will receive email reminders to your new Google Gmail account.  If you don’t want to bother with checking an extra email, you can set up your Gmail to forward the messages to an email account you already check.

You can do this by:

  1. Logging into your Gmail account.
  2. Click on “Settings” in the upper right hand corner.
  3. Then click on the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
  4. There is a section for forwarding right at the top.  Fill it out and make sure to click “Save Changes” when you are done.
  5. Now you are good to go to receive the email updates in your preferred email account!
  6. You may want to sign in to your Gmail account periodically to ensure it doesn’t get deleted.

Can I create a Google Calendar with my business email so I can set the reminders to be sent to my business email account?

Yes, you can set up a Google Calendar with your business email account. Go to calendar.google.com and click on "Create and Account" and Google will take you through the steps for creating a Google Calendar with your business email account.
