Owen Smith, EA
Senior Accountant
Owen has over 15 years of experience in accounting and taxes. He has been an Enrolled Agent since 2013 and derives satisfaction from finding ways to save clients’ money on their tax liability.
Owen is originally from Southern California and graduated from California State University – San Bernardino in 2007 with a B.S. in Accounting Information Systems and a minor in Finance. In his last two years in college, Owen discovered that he enjoyed doing taxes and began participating in the school’s VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) helping members of the community prepare and file their taxes on a volunteer basis. After college, he was recruited by a family friend to take over a small tax practice in Southern California, which is what drove him to study for, and pass, the IRS Special Enrollment Examination to become an Enrolled Agent.
Owen is currently studying for the CPA Examination and looks forward to adding that credential within the next 2 years.
When not working, Owen is an avid skier and snowboarder during the winter months, is a film buff, and loves going to comedy shows with his wife and friends. He’s a big fan of professional European Soccer Leagues, the UEFA Champions League, and all the International tournaments every few years (World Cup, Euros, Copa America). He has 5 children, 2 dogs, plays the flute and the piano, and enjoys an intense workout whenever he can squeeze in the time for it
